It’s been almost 2 years since my mom passed away, and it’s also almost 2 years since I started doing consistent Ziva meditation. This practice has been a stabilizing force in my life during a time of immense loss and grief. Through Ziva meditation, I’ve found solace and a sense of connection to something greater than myself; it has provided me with a space to process my emotions, unraveled the knots of sadness within me, and given me the strength to carry on.

Meditation is a powerful practice that has the ability to transform not only our minds, but our entire lives. After two years of dedicated meditation, I have experienced first-hand the profound impact it can have; from increased clarity and focus to a greater sense of inner peace, the benefits are truly remarkable. In this blog post, I will share my reflections on my two-year meditation journey, offering insights and lessons learned along the way.

Whether you’re a seasoned meditator or just starting out, I hope that my experiences will inspire and encourage you on your own path of self-discovery and healing.

How I Started my Meditation Journey

When my mom fell really sick during the week of my birthday and passed away a week later, I was devastated. The timing was just cruel, and I didn’t get the opportunity to celebrate my birthday that year. It was a difficult time, but I knew deep down that my mom wanted me to move forward and find happiness in my life.

While searching for something that could bring about profound changes and help me cope with the loss, I stumbled upon Emily Fletcher, the founder of Ziva meditation. I already took the free version of the course months before, but it felt like the perfect time to go all in.

Emily explained how she had dedicated her entire life to studying and teaching meditation. Her words resonated with me, and I could feel a sense of peace and tranquillity just by listening to her. It was as if she understood the pain I was going through and could offer guidance on finding my own path to healing.

Taking the chance, I enrolled in Emily’s meditation course. I looked at the payment for the course not only as an investment in myself but also as an exchange of energy for the transformation I was about to experience. I knew in my gut that I had much more to gain than to lose by committing to this practice.

With each meditation session, I felt a little bit lighter and more at ease. The practice became my solace, a sanctuary where I could escape from the overwhelming grief and find a glimmer of hope. It helped me process my emotions and allowed me to rediscover joy amidst the pain.

Ziva meditation techniques became a crucial part of my healing journey. Through this practice, I learned to show myself compassion, let go of what I couldn’t control, and make space for growth and transformation. It has been a lifeline, guiding me towards a brighter future and carrying my mom’s memory with love and gratitude.

While I miss my mom everyday, I know that she would be proud of the steps I’ve taken to find my own healing. And for that, I am forever grateful for listening to my inner guidance and the power of meditation.

Benefits

By setting aside dedicated time each day to meditate, I started to experience profound transformation in my life. Here are seven incredible benefits that come from a committed meditation practice:

Deep Relaxation

Just like a power nap revitalizes the body, meditation works its magic on the mind. Taking a few minutes or more to sit in stillness and focus on our breath allows us to recharge our mental batteries; it provides a break from the constant stream of thoughts and distractions, leaving us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Promotes Emotional Well-Being

We all have ups and downs in life, but meditation acts as a steady anchor amidst the emotional rollercoaster. Through meditation, we develop the ability to observe our emotions without judgment; this heightened self-awareness allows us to respond to situations with greater composure and kindness. Over time, we become more resilient to stressors and cultivate a deep sense of emotional well-being.

Enhances Clarity and Focus

The practice of meditation helps to quiet the noisy chatter in our minds and create space for clarity and focus to emerge. Regular meditation sessions help train the mind to let go of unnecessary thoughts and distractions, sharpening our ability to concentrate on what truly matters. With enhanced clarity and focus, everyday tasks become more manageable and enjoyable.

Improved Sleep and Rest

If you struggle with insomnia or have difficulty falling asleep, incorporating meditation into your daily routine can work wonders. The calming effects of meditation help to quiet the mind and induce a state of deep relaxation, making it easier to unwind and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.

Spiritual Growth

Meditation is not only a practice for improving physical and mental well-being, but also a path to profound spiritual growth. When you commit to regular meditation, you open up to a deeper connection with the universe, higher consciousness, or your own spiritual beliefs. This connection brings a sense of purpose, inner peace, and a greater understanding of the interconnectedness of all things.

Challenges Faced Along the Way

The challenges I encountered might be different from yours, but here they are:

De-stressing Phase

During my de-stressing phase, I used to wake up really early in the morning. It may seem like a typical approach at first, but let me explain why it worked for me.

Waking up early allowed me to have some much-needed quiet time before the day began, giving me the opportunity to set my daily intentions and engage in activities that bring me joy and relaxation. This early morning routine also helped me establish a sense of discipline and consistency, which in turn contributed to my overall well-being.

While it may require some effort to adjust to this schedule, the benefits of starting your day early can be truly transformative. I gradually went back to my normal time of waking up after a few weeks, but continue to maintain the benefits.

Getting Used to the Mantra

Getting used to your meditation mantra can be a challenge, but don’t worry: it’s completely normal to second-guess that mantra at first. It might feel strange or pointless, and you might question if you’re doing it right.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, as this is all part of the process. Trust in the process and be open to the possibility that your mantra may evolve and adapt over time as you deep dive deeper into your meditation practice. Ultimately, the goal is to find a mantra that feels genuine and aligned with your intentions, helping you to cultivate a peaceful and focused state of mind during your meditation sessions.

Fitting Meditation in Your Schedule

If you find yourself thinking that you don’t have enough time to meditate, then it’s likely that you actually need a meditation practice. Trust me, I’ve been there. Initially, I used to believe that I couldn’t spare a few minutes of my day to meditate; however, as I delved deeper into the practice, I realized that meditating has become non-negotiable for me.

I have learned to prioritize my mental health and make time for self-care. It may seem counterintuitive, but investing a few extra minutes into meditation actually enhances my productivity and efficiency in other areas of my life. So, if you think you don’t have time to meditate, I encourage you to reconsider. Just remember, you have the power to find a few moments each day to connect with yourself and cultivate inner peace.

Things I Learned to Let Go

Beliefs That Do Not Work for Me

Throughout our lives, we often accumulate various beliefs and ideas about ourselves and the world around us. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to realize that not all of these beliefs serve me in a positive way. In fact, some of them can hold me back from reaching my full potential.

By questioning the beliefs I held onto so tightly, I’ve been able to let go of limiting thoughts and create space for new and empowering ideas to take root. Embracing a more flexible mindset has allowed me to adapt to challenges and see opportunities where I once saw obstacles.

The Idea That Things Have to Be Done a Certain Way

I enjoy routines and find comfort in familiar patterns. However, this can sometimes lead to a rigid mindset where I believe that things have to be done in a specific way, so I made a conscious effort to let go of that tendency.

By embracing flexibility and openness, I’ve been able to approach situations with fresh perspectives. This shift in mindset has allowed me to find alternative solutions, think creatively, and break free from the constraints of conformity.

The Old Idea of Who I Think I Need to Be

We often create mental images of who we think we need to be based on societal expectations, family pressures, or personal insecurities. These self-imposed standards can be exhausting to uphold and may not truly align with who we are at our core.

I’ve learned to embrace my true self, imperfections and all. I’ve discovered a newfound sense of freedom and inner peace by letting go of societal expectations and focusing on who I am and what truly matters to me.

Things That Are Not Mine

We often carry emotional baggage that isn’t ours to bear. Whether it’s the opinions of others, past mistakes, or the weight of unresolved issues, these burdens can weigh us down and prevent us from moving forward in life.

I’ve come to realize the importance of setting boundaries, practicing self-care, and releasing the need to manage things outside of my control. By relinquishing the responsibility for things that aren’t mine, I’ve been able to focus on the things that truly matter and invest more energy in personal growth and fulfillment.

Continuing the Journey

So am I a perfect person now after 2 years of meditation? Heck no! I still have so much to learn and things to let go of. The journey of meditation is not about achieving perfection, but rather about self-discovery.

If someone asked me to stop meditating for a substantial amount of money, I would decline; the healing and learning I’ve gained from meditation are priceless. No material possession can substitute for the inner peace, clarity, and personal development it has brought into my life. I’ve come to realize that money can’t buy the profound benefits of meditation.

Meditation is a reminder that growth is not about reaching an endpoint, but about embracing the journey itself. I’ll keep meditating for as long as I possibly can because it enhances my life and aligns me with my true self.

Encouragement to Start Your Meditation Journey

Looking back, my only regret is not starting meditation sooner. I’ve experienced a positive shift in my mindset, emotional well-being, and overall outlook on life; the practice of meditation has shown me the beauty of finding stillness within myself. The journey has brought me gratitude for the present moment and an increased ability to handle life’s challenges with grace.
